About PSPD files

The .PSPD file extension is primarily a PaintShop Pro Project File. It saves the working state of an image editing session in Corel PaintShop Pro, storing multiple layers, masks, adjustment settings, and vector graphics. A secondary, older use is for PhotoSuite 5 Project Files by Sonic Solutions. The main disadvantage of the .PSPD format is its heavily proprietary nature. Unlike standard image formats, .PSPD files exceed standard file sizes, cannot be viewed in web browsers, and require you to own a paid license of Corel PaintShop Pro to open or edit them natively. Furthermore, because it acts as a complex data container, standard online converters frequently fail to parse the proprietary layer data. Users typically need to convert .PSPD files to flattened formats like JPG or PNG for web sharing, or PSD to preserve layer data for collaboration. Converting to JPG will drop all layer and transparency data. This is a closed, proprietary format. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data.
