The .PSDC file extension stands for Adobe Photoshop Cloud Document. It is used by Adobe Photoshop on both desktop and iPad to automatically save and sync multi-layered graphic design projects across multiple devices via Adobe Creative Cloud.
These files are highly proprietary and designed to lock users into the Adobe ecosystem. The primary disadvantage of a .PSDC file is that it requires an expensive, active monthly subscription to access. Unlike traditional PSD files, .PSDC files cannot be easily opened by legacy software, third-party image editors, or web browsers, making them terrible for archiving or sharing with clients.
To ensure long-term accessibility, you should convert .PSDC files to PSD for offline layer editing, JPG or PNG for web sharing, or TIFF for print. Note that converting to flat raster formats like JPG will permanently drop all layer data and adjustability.
