About PSAFE3 files
A .PSAFE3 file is an encrypted database used by Password Safe to securely store user credentials and notes. This format relies on strong Twofish encryption and SHA-256 hashing, meaning it is impossible to read or open without the correct master password. Users typically need to convert these files when migrating to modern password managers like Bitwarden or KeePass. The main disadvantage of the .PSAFE3 format is its rigid proprietary lock-in. It is not natively supported by web browsers, mobile operating systems, or basic text editors, and it requires a dedicated desktop application to function. To move your data, the best target formats are CSV or XML. However, exporting to these formats completely removes all encryption, leaving your passwords exposed in plain text. Because this file format is securely encrypted by design, it is extremely difficult to open or convert with generic online tools. Often, only the original Password Safe software can properly read, unlock, or export the data. If our analysis detects an unencrypted exported version, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your PSAFE3 file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted IBAK, KDB, CRYPT1 and KDBX files.
