About PR1 files
The .PR1 file extension serves multiple unrelated functions across different industries. Most commonly, it is a Solder Paste Printer Program or PCB design file used by MPM solder paste printers or Polar Instruments. Another major use case is as an EIB/KNX project file created by legacy KNX Association ETS2 software for smart home automation. Finally, some .PR1 files are Page Report web archives generated by Microsoft SQL Server Reporting or Microsoft Outlook. The primary disadvantage of the .PR1 format is its highly fragmented and proprietary nature. A KNX project file is completely useless to a PCB engineer. Furthermore, files from ETS2 are considered legacy and often require specific import tools to open in modern ETS versions. Industrial printer files are locked to specific machine hardware. Standard online converters fail because they cannot decipher which underlying format the .PR1 file uses, nor do they possess the proprietary logic to render PCB or KNX database parameters. If you need to convert a .PR1 file, the target formats depend heavily on the source. SQL Server Page Reports can sometimes be converted to PDF or HTML. KNX projects should ideally be upgraded to .KNXPROJ. PCB files might be exported to .Gerber or CSV using the original engineering software.
