About PLL files

A .PLL file is a proprietary binary library primarily used by Oracle Forms to store PL/SQL code. It serves as a central repository for shared functions and procedures that can be attached to various forms and modules. You typically use Oracle Forms Builder to manage these files. Because the format is an encrypted or compiled binary container, it presents major disadvantages for modern development. You cannot open a .PLL file in a standard text editor to read the code, and it requires a bulky, expensive Oracle environment to function properly. Furthermore, developers often face frustrating runtime errors if the system's library paths are incorrectly configured. To modernize workflows, users frequently need to convert these files to .PLD (the plain-text equivalent of the library), .TXT, or .SQL so the code can be tracked in version control systems like Git. Alternatively, in rare cases, a .PLL file may be an unencrypted playlist for Yamaha digital keyboards or MainConcept EVE, which are best converted to standard .M3U or .XML formats. The primary Oracle format is exceptionally difficult to open or convert because it is closed-source. Often, only the original Oracle Developer software can properly read or export the binary data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your PLL file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted PNG, FMX, FMB and MMX files.

The PLL Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our PLL converter.
