Convert PHR to another file type

To convert PHR headers to another format, you need NCBI BLAST or other Database software.

Convert a file to PHR

To convert other file formats to the "Bioinformatics Database File" file type, you need software like NCBI BLAST or a similar tool.

About PHR files

A .PHR file typically functions as a BLAST Protein Database Header used in bioinformatics, an ARP Odyssey patch file for software synthesizers, a Crystallography phase data file in ARP/wARP, or a RoboHelp Phrase List. It is managed by specialized tools like NCBI BLAST, Korg ARP Odyssey, or Adobe RoboHelp.

Because .PHR is a highly fragmented and proprietary extension, it lacks native operating system support and creates major workflow roadblocks. For example, BLAST index files are compiled binaries that are entirely unreadable by humans and strictly require companion PIN and PSQ files to function. Synthesizer patches are closed-source parameter files that are completely useless without the exact VST or hardware synthesizer installed. This makes sharing, editing, or cross-referencing these files incredibly frustrating for both scientists and musicians.

Target formats depend entirely on the file's origin. RoboHelp lists can sometimes be extracted to TXT or XML for text editing, while synthesizer patches might only migrate to other proprietary patch formats like FXP or SYX. BLAST headers cannot be meaningfully converted to standard documents.

This file format is exceptionally difficult to open or convert because standard online converters cannot differentiate between a protein database, a synth preset, or structural biology data. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data. However, convert.guru can still identify the file format, inspect the file, and show text or internal content. Just drag and drop your file to see what it is and convert it if supported.

Convert.Guru analyzes your PHR file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted PSOLIB, GED and FMF files.

FAQ

If you want to convert PHR file to TXT, RTF, DOC, DOCX, ODT, PAGES, TEX, LATEX, MD, MARKDOWN, LOG or NFO, you can use NCBI BLAST or similar software from the "Bioinformatics Database or Synth Patch" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

To convert PDF, DOC, ASC, TODO, NFO, MEMO, README, DOCX, JPG, TXT, NOTE or RTF files to PHR, try NCBI BLAST or another comparable tool in the "Bioinformatics Database or Synth Patch" category.

The PHR Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our PHR converter.
