About PGT files

The .PGT file extension is heavily fragmented and used by multiple, completely unrelated software programs. Primarily, it acts as a photo collage page template created by Picture Collage Maker. It is also utilized as an ID card design template by Datacard ID Works software, an equipment diagnostic data file for JLG EZCalPro, and a specialized game asset container, such as a Pokémon event gift data file (edited via PokéGen) or a texture image archive in games like Capcom's Mega Man X8.

Because these are highly specific, proprietary project files, they are extremely difficult to work with outside of their native environments. For example, a collage template cannot be opened directly in Adobe Photoshop or standard web browsers. They often contain fixed layout coordinates, proprietary settings, and uncompressed raw assets rather than standard image data. Users typically need to convert these templates into standard raster formats like JPG or PNG, or document formats like PDF, to share them with clients or send them to a printer.

Standard online converters fail to process .PGT files because the format lacks public documentation and its internal structure changes completely depending on the software that originally created it. To successfully convert a .PGT collage or ID card, you typically must open it in its original software and use the native "Export" or "Print to PDF" function.

However, you can still use convert.guru to inspect these difficult files. Just drag and drop your .PGT file to identify its exact format subtype, view its internal hex data, and attempt to extract embedded images or text. If our analysis detects a supported underlying format inside the archive, partial conversion or data extraction may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your PGT file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted GAS, NCP and ECA files.

The PGT Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our PGT converter.
