About PEAK files
A .PEAK file is a proprietary waveform cache generated by Steinberg audio production software, such as Cubase and Nuendo. It stores a visual map of audio amplitude to render waveforms quickly on screen. The main disadvantage of this format is that it contains absolutely no playable audio data. It is a closed, proprietary binary cache file. A common frustration occurs when users mistake it for an actual audio recording and attempt to play or convert it. Because it lacks audio streams, standard online converters fail to process it. You cannot convert a .PEAK file into MP3 or WAV. Just drag and drop your file to see what it is and convert it if supported. While this specific closed format is difficult to open or convert, our analysis can inspect the file, show internal content, and confirm its structure. This prevents you from wasting hours trying to convert a cache file into music. If our analysis detects a supported underlying format, viewing or conversion may still be possible, but typically, you must locate the original source audio.
