Extract text from Renamed PDF files (PDF-1)

To convert other file formats to the "Renamed Document File" file type, you need software like Chromium or a similar tool.
A .pdf-1 file is a standard PDF document that has received an incorrect file extension. This typically occurs when a Chromium-based web browser, such as Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge, downloads a file with a name that already exists in the destination folder. Instead of appending the duplicate number to the filename (e.g., document(1).pdf), a software bug or improper server header causes the browser to append it to the extension itself, resulting in document.pdf-1.
The primary disadvantage of this format is broken system association. Because operating systems like Windows and macOS rely on the exact extension to assign a default application, double-clicking a .pdf-1 file will trigger an error or a prompt asking you to select a program. Furthermore, many standard online converters will instantly reject the file because they look solely at the text of the extension rather than the actual file contents.
To solve this, you can convert the file to a standard PDF, or transform the content into a DOCX file for text editing or JPG files for image use. Because the underlying data is typically a standard Portable Document Format (often PDF version 1.4), it is technically identical to a normal PDF.
