About PCE files
The .PCE file extension is highly fragmented and used by several completely different applications. Most commonly, it serves as a CAD part file, apparel pattern piece, or CAM post-processor file in industrial design software like GOELAN, Autodesk CAM, Gerber AccuMark, and Audaces Vestuário. Alternatively, it is widely recognized among retro gaming communities as a PC Engine (TurboGrafx-16) game ROM file, storing a digital copy of a vintage game cartridge. In rare cases, it acts as a backup image created by older PowerQuest DriveImage software or a ZIP-based case file in Procura PC-EVIDENCE. Because .PCE files are proprietary and application-specific, they suffer from severe interoperability limits. You cannot open a Gerber apparel pattern in Autodesk, nor can a web browser natively read a PC Engine ROM. Sharing these files with clients or colleagues often requires them to install expensive, specialized software. If dealing with CAD or apparel patterns, the ideal workflow is exporting to standard vector formats like DXF or PDF to ensure the geometry can be viewed universally, though machine-specific manufacturing data will be lost. Game ROMs are typically kept as-is and loaded into emulators. Converting .PCE files is notoriously difficult because the format usually lacks public documentation. Often, only the original software can correctly parse the proprietary data structures to export them. Standard online converters will almost always fail to process these files. Just drag and drop your file to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible using convert.guru. Even if full conversion is blocked by proprietary locks, our system can inspect the file headers to detect supported underlying formats, such as embedded ZIP structures, allowing you to salvage data.
Convert.Guru analyzes your PCE file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The PCE Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our PCE converter.
