About PB2 files
The .PB2 file extension is a legacy phonebook backup format created by Oxygen Phone Manager II, a software suite once popular for managing Nokia and Symbian mobile phones. These files serve as a proprietary database, storing contact information such as names, phone numbers, email addresses, and group assignments in a binary structure.
While effective for archiving data in the early 2000s, .PB2 files present significant hurdles today. They are proprietary, meaning they cannot be opened by standard text editors, Microsoft Excel, or modern smartphone operating systems like Android or iOS. Users typically encounter these files when trying to recover old contacts from a hard drive backup, only to find the original Oxygen Phone Manager software is discontinued or incompatible with Windows 10/11. To make this data usable, the best course of action is to convert the file to CSV (for spreadsheet editing), vCard (.VCF) (for importing into iCloud, Google Contacts, or Outlook), or PDF (for a printable archival record).
Convert.Guru analyzes your PB2 file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The PB2 Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our PB2 converter.
