Convert a file to PACK
To convert other file formats to the "Game Data Archive" file type, you need software like Rustic Pack File Manager or a similar tool.
About PACK files
A .PACK file is a compressed archive container that bundles multiple files together. It is most commonly used as a game data archive for the Total War series by Creative Assembly, storing 3D models, textures, sounds, and XML files. However, the .PACK extension is severely fragmented. It also functions as a software support package for ARM microcontrollers via the CMSIS standard, an object storage archive in Git repositories, and a highly compressed Java Pack200 archive.
Because the .PACK format is a generic container, identifying and extracting its contents requires specific software. To open a Total War .PACK file, you need specialized community tools like RPFM (Rustic Pack File Manager). For ARM packages, you need Keil µVision. For legacy Java archives, you rely on the deprecated pack200 command-line tool.
The primary disadvantage of .PACK files is this extreme fragmentation. You cannot simply double-click them on Windows or macOS. They are often proprietary, game-specific, or system-specific binaries that exceed gigabytes in size. Standard unarchiving tools will reject them due to unrecognized headers. If you want to modify a game texture, extract C/C++ code from an ARM package, or recover a Java JAR file, you must decode the specific archive structure. Drop your file here to analyze and convert it securely right in your browser.
To edit game assets, convert .PACK to standard ZIP or RAR archives. For ARM CMSIS development packages, converting or extracting them to ZIP is the best workaround, as they are inherently ZIP-based under the hood. For legacy Java applications, convert the .PACK format back to a standard JAR file to restore executable functionality.
Convert.Guru analyzes your PACK file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted PAK, ACK, DUNGEONDRAFT_PACK, IDX, PCK, IPACK, PPACK, TPACK, ATLAS, ZIP, TPAC, MRPACK and PNG files.

The PACK Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our PACK converter.
