To convert other file formats to the "Statistical Source Code" file type, you need software like OxMetrics or a similar tool.

About OX files

An .OX file contains source code written in the Ox programming language, an object-oriented matrix language widely used for econometrics and statistical analysis. These scripts define mathematical algorithms, classes, and data manipulations intended for execution within the OxMetrics environment or the standalone Ox Console. While powerful for statistical modeling, .OX files present significant friction for sharing; they are plain text but require the specific interpreter to run, and standard text editors often fail to provide appropriate syntax highlighting for the unique Ox syntax. Users often convert these files to PDF to create uneditable, formatted documentation of their statistical models for academic papers or archiving. Converting to TXT is a common pragmatic workaround to force compatibility with generic code editors like VS Code or Notepad++, while converting to HTML allows for easy web publishing of econometric algorithms without requiring the viewer to install the Ox software.

Convert.Guru analyzes your OX file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted RNW, CS and HX files.

The OX Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our OX converter.
