Convert a file to OX

To convert other file formats to the "Econometric Source Code" file type, you need software like OxMetrics or a similar tool.

About OX files

The .ox file is a source code file used by the Ox programming language, an object-oriented matrix programming language developed for econometric and statistical modeling. These files contain raw code scripts used primarily within the OxMetrics software suite for time-series analysis, forecasting, and financial econometrics. The main disadvantage of the .ox format is its highly specialized nature. The code relies on specific Ox libraries and cannot be executed natively by standard operating systems or mainstream statistical software like R or Python. Furthermore, non-programmers cannot easily interpret the specialized econometric syntax without the original software environment. Users typically need to convert these files to standard text formats like TXT or MD for code review, version control on GitHub, or sharing with colleagues who do not have an expensive OxMetrics license. Because the syntax is unique to Ox, automated translation to other programming languages is impossible; however, the underlying file is plain text. Standard online converters often fail to recognize the obscure .ox extension and immediately reject the file. Just drag and drop your file here to identify the format, view its text contents, and convert it when possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your OX file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted RNW, CS and HX files.

The OX Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our OX converter.
