About OPAL files

An .OPAL file is an Office Administrative Template used to configure and deploy Microsoft Office settings across an enterprise network. These files store user policies and software preferences, typically formatted as structured XML. Administrators manage them using the Office Customization Tool. The main disadvantage of the .OPAL format is its rigid, highly specific nature. These files are built exclusively for enterprise deployment scenarios and provide zero value to standard end users. Without specialized deployment software, you cannot easily edit or apply the configurations. Furthermore, standard online converters fail to process this format because they expect typical documents or media files rather than raw system settings. If you receive an .OPAL file by mistake or need to audit its contents without the deployment suite, the best approach is to convert it to XML or TXT. This allows you to read the raw configuration code in any basic text editor. This file format is notoriously difficult to process because it is tied to proprietary enterprise tools. Often, only the original deployment software can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects the supported underlying XML structure, viewing or converting the text data is still possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your OPAL file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
