The .odlgz file is a Gzipped Event Log used by Microsoft OneDrive to store diagnostic and telemetry data. Windows and Office 365 generate these files automatically to record sync errors, system states, and crash reports. You can read more about the OneDrive architecture on Wikipedia.
These files are highly annoying for average users because they consume disk space over time and cannot be opened directly with a standard text editor. Since the log is compressed using Gzip, attempting to open it in Notepad results in unreadable gibberish.
