About OD files

A .OD file typically represents one of two distinct formats: a truncated or non-standard OpenDocument file (such as ODT or ODS), or a specialized Mascopt Graph Request file.

In the most common scenario, users encounter this file when an email attachment or download has a cut-off file extension (e.g., report.odt becomes report.od). These are valid ZIP-compressed office documents created by software like LibreOffice or Apache OpenOffice. Because the operating system does not recognize the incomplete extension, the file appears as an unknown binary. Users need to convert or rename these files to DOCX or PDF to view documents, spreadsheets, or presentations.

Less frequently, a .OD file is a Mascopt Graph Request file developed by INRIA/UNSA. These are XML-based data files used in network optimization and graph theory research to describe network objects and requests. In industrial maritime settings, .OD files may also refer to object data logs generated by Kongsberg Maritime K-Chief automation systems. These proprietary data files are critical for vessel history and diagnostics but are incompatible with standard text editors.

Convert.Guru analyzes your OD file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted OD0, ODT, ODS, GV and XXG files.
