The .nv3 extension serves two distinct, proprietary purposes that often confuse users.

  1. Navitel Map Data (Primary): Most commonly, this is a vector map file used by Navitel Navigator, a popular offline GPS navigation app. These files contain highly compressed road networks, POIs, and routing data optimized for mobile devices. The Problem: unlike open formats like GPX or KML, you cannot simply double-click an .nv3 file to open it in Google Maps, Garmin BaseCamp, or ArcGIS. They are encrypted or binary-compiled specifically for the Navitel engine.
  2. visiTeach Project (Secondary): In industrial automation, .nv3 files are project or backup files for COSCOM visiTeach (and Visicontrol) software, used to program and visualize robotic sequences. These are strictly strictly tied to the manufacturing ecosystem.

Conversion Advice:
For Navitel users, direct conversion of the map file itself is rarely possible due to DRM and format complexity. Instead, use the Navitel app to export your specific tracks or waypoints as GPX or KML. For visiTeach users, these files are likely binary, but opening them in a text editor like Notepad++ may reveal human-readable headers or script logic.
