About NTW files

The .NTW extension primarily signifies a proprietary broadband network design file created by Lode Data Corporation software. These files contain the intricate topology of HFC (Hybrid Fiber-Coax) and fiber networks, including amplifier specs, cable distances, and signal levels.

A common issue with .NTW files is their specialized, binary nature; they are locked to the Lode Data Design Assistant, a niche industry standard for telecom engineering. This proprietary lock-in means that field technicians, construction managers, or municipal planners cannot open these files to view network routes without an expensive software license. Furthermore, direct interoperability with standard tools like AutoCAD or ArcGIS Pro is non-existent without an intermediate export step.

For engineering workflows, the best approach is converting .NTW data into DWG or DXF for CAD drafting, SHP for GIS integration, or KML for quick visualization in Google Earth.

In a completely different context (Bioinformatics), .NTW files are generated by vConTACT2 to map viral genome similarity networks. These are plain text or graph data files intended for import into visualization tools like Cytoscape.

Convert.Guru analyzes your NTW file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted EBK, KSS and SAC files.

The NTW Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our NTW converter.
