Extract text from Firewall settings files (NPFX)

To convert other file formats to the "Firewall Configuration File" file type, you need software like Norton Internet Security or a similar tool.
.NPFX files store user-defined firewall rules, trusted application lists, and network security policies for Norton Internet Security. They are generated when a user backs up or exports their personal firewall configuration to migrate settings between devices or recover them after a system reinstall.
These files are created and managed exclusively by Norton security products, originally developed by Symantec.
The major disadvantage of the .NPFX format is that it is a proprietary, closed format. The data structure is heavily tied to the specific version of the Norton engine that created it. Users face massive challenges when trying to migrate their carefully crafted firewall rules to competing antivirus software or when trying to read the policies in a human-readable format. Traditional online converters fail entirely because this is not a standard document, but rather a specialized software configuration binary.
Directly converting an .NPFX file to standard readable formats like XML, JSON, or TXT is rarely possible without using Norton's own internal export tools. Most of the rule syntax is proprietary and locked.
