Extract text from NEXUS2 presets (NFX)
To convert NFX presets to another format, you need reFX NEXUS or other Plugin software.
To convert other file formats to the "Audio Synthesizer Preset" file type, you need software like reFX NEXUS or a similar tool.
Most often, an .NFX file is an effects preset used by the reFX NEXUS synthesizer plugin. It saves specific audio effects, equalizer settings, and reverb parameters so music producers can quickly load custom sound chains into their Digital Audio Workstation (DAW). A smaller percentage of .NFX files function as proprietary travel booking documents generated by the Join UP! tour operator system.
The major disadvantage of .NFX files is their closed, proprietary nature. A NEXUS preset requires a costly license and only works inside the reFX NEXUS environment. You cannot open it with a standard text editor, nor can you natively import it into competing synthesizers like Serum or Sylenth1. Similarly, the travel booking .NFX files are encoded specifically for the Join UP! internal database software, leaving standard users completely locked out of the data.
Because the internal data structure of an .NFX file is not documented for the public, standard online converters fail to process it. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data. Synthesizer architectures differ vastly, meaning direct conversion to standard FXP files is virtually impossible.
