About NFM files
The .NFM file extension is primarily associated with system configuration files used in the Nintendo Wii and GameCube ecosystems, often found within homebrew environments or specific system tools. These files typically store binary or plain-text settings required for initializing hardware parameters or emulation preferences. A major issue for users is that .NFM files are not recognized by standard operating systems; double-clicking them usually results in an "Unknown File Type" error. Because they may contain critical system data or proprietary binary structures, attempting to open them in standard word processors can corrupt the file formatting. Additionally, in legacy development contexts, .NFM refers to Delphi .NET Form files generated by older versions of Borland (now Embarcadero) Delphi. These text-based resources define the layout and properties of window forms. For most users, the goal is not to "convert" the file for media use, but to decode it into a human-readable format like TXT or XML for editing, or PDF for documentation and archiving.
Convert.Guru analyzes your NFM file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert NFM file to CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF, DAT, DB or SQL, you can use Notepad++ or similar software from the "System Configuration Settings" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to NFM, try Notepad++ or another comparable tool in the "System Configuration Settings" category.
The NFM Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our NFM converter.
