Extract text from Allplan CAD drawings (NDW)

To convert other file formats to the "BIM Drawing File" file type, you need software like Nemetschek Allplan or a similar tool.
The .ndw file format is primarily a CAD drawing or Building Information Modeling (BIM) project file created by Nemetschek Allplan. Architects and engineers use it to store 2D floor plans, 3D building models, and structural reinforcement details.
You need Allplan to open and edit these files natively. Less commonly, .ndw files might function as JetDB database formats for Nero CoverDesigner or notes databases in Microsoft Access.
The .ndw format is strictly proprietary. Its major disadvantage is extreme vendor lock-in. You cannot open an .ndw file in standard CAD tools like AutoCAD or Revit without a direct plugin or export process. It requires expensive software licenses just to view the contents, and web browsers do not support it natively.
Users typically need to convert .ndw to DWG or DXF for 2D CAD drafting compatibility, or IFC for universal BIM coordination. Converting to PDF is best for client reviews. However, exporting complex 3D BIM data to flat 2D formats often strips out intelligent building parameters.
Because .ndw is a closed, undocumented format, standard online converters fail to process it. Often only the original software can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
