About NBC files

A .nbc file is a Next Byte Codes Source Code file containing assembly-like programming instructions. These files are written specifically to control LEGO Mindstorms NXT programmable bricks, dictating how robot motors move and how sensors react. To compile and upload this code to a robot, developers use the command-line NBC Compiler or the Bricx Command Center (BricxCC). The primary disadvantage of the .nbc format is its highly specialized nature. Standard operating systems do not recognize the extension, making it difficult to share with non-programmers, teammates, or teachers for grading. Furthermore, the code cannot be executed on a standard PC or Mac; it only runs on the specific LEGO hardware byte-code interpreter. To share your robotics code for review, archiving, or printing, you should convert the .nbc file to standard formats like TXT, RTF, or PDF. Converting to PDF is highly recommended as it locks the text formatting, syntax, and indentation in place. While this format is obscure to most standard online converters, it is ultimately a plain text file.
