About NAZ files
The .naz file extension primarily acts as a proprietary game audio archive used by classic video games such as Grand Theft Auto 2, Serious Sam, and Total Overdose. In titles like Serious Sam developed by Croteam, these files often encapsulate Ogg Vorbis audio streams. Alternatively, a .naz file can function as a video project file created by Nero AG, a Nintendo 64 ROM archive, or a compressed seismic data file from Guralp Systems.
The primary disadvantage of the .naz format is its highly specialized, closed nature. You cannot open these files directly in standard media players or video editing tools without the original software. Gamers and modders often need to convert these archives to standard formats like OGG, MP3, or WAV to listen to the audio tracks or edit them. For Nero project files, users face the frustrating limitation that the project only contains timeline references, not actual video data, making direct video conversion impossible without the original source media on your hard drive.
Standard online converters routinely fail to process .naz files because they lack the specific unpacking algorithms for these proprietary containers. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format - such as an unencrypted Ogg Vorbis stream - viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your NAZ file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The NAZ Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our NAZ converter.
