Convert MZF to another file type
To convert MZF Backups to another format, you need Evertz MAGNUM or other Backup software.
Convert a file to MZF
To convert other file formats to the "System Backup Archive" file type, you need software like Evertz MAGNUM or a similar tool.
About MZF files
The .MZF file is a proprietary system backup archive. It is primarily used by two highly specialized systems: the Evertz MAGNUM broadcast orchestration software and Medmont Studio ophthalmic clinic software. These files store database backups, configuration settings, and medical or broadcast data.
Because these are highly specific enterprise tools, opening an .MZF file without the original system is practically impossible using standard desktop software. The main disadvantage of this format is severe vendor lock-in. You cannot easily read the data inside, and restoring the data usually requires access to the exact software version that generated the backup.
Standard online converters fail to process .MZF files because they do not recognize the obscure extension. However, under the hood, the .MZF format typically relies on standard GZIP compression to minimize storage space.
If you need to recover data from an older backup, the best target formats are GZ or ZIP archives. By extracting the archive, you can manually inspect the underlying XML, SQL databases, or media files, though you will lose the automatic restore functionality of the parent software.
This file format is intentionally difficult to open or convert to prevent end users from accidentally breaking critical database schemas. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data. However, convert.guru can still identify the file format, inspect the file, and show text or internal content. If our analysis detects the supported underlying GZIP embedded format, viewing or extraction may still be possible. Just drag and drop your file to see what it is and convert it if supported.
Convert.Guru analyzes your MZF file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert MZF file to SYS, DLL, EXE, DRV, VXD, 386, COM, BAT, CMD, SCR, PIF or LNK, you can use Evertz MAGNUM or similar software from the "System and Data Backup" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MSI, EXE, REG, MST, LNK, CAB, CAT, DRV, INF, SYS, MSU or DLL files to MZF, try Evertz MAGNUM or another comparable tool in the "System and Data Backup" category.
The MZF Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our MZF converter.
