Convert MNS to another file type
To convert MNS settings files to another format, you need AutoCAD or other Settings software.
Convert a file to MNS
To convert other file formats to the "CAD Interface Configuration" file type, you need software like AutoCAD or a similar tool.
About MNS files
The .MNS file is a legacy AutoCAD Menu Source file used to define custom user interfaces, toolbars, and menus in older versions of the software (prior to AutoCAD 2006). These files are typically ASCII text but follow a strict proprietary structure understood only by Autodesk products. The main disadvantage of the .MNS format is its obsolescence; modern CAD environments require the newer CUI or CUIX (Custom User Interface) formats. Sharing these files with non-CAD users is useless, as they contain configuration code and macros rather than actual drawing geometry. Users typically need to convert .MNS to CUIX to migrate their custom workspaces into modern AutoCAD versions. Standard online converters fail to process these files because they are highly specific software configuration assets, not standard documents or images. Since .MNS is a closed, legacy format, migrating the menus properly usually requires the original software's internal CUI editor and migration tools. We can inspect the internal text content, allowing you to salvage command macros and custom scripts even without an expensive CAD subscription.
Convert.Guru analyzes your MNS file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert MNS file to INI, CFG, CONF, CONFIG, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, ENV, PROPERTIES or RC, you can use AutoCAD or similar software from the "Workspace Configuration Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert ZSHRC, CONF, RCFILE, GITCONFIG, RC, PLIST, BASHRC, CONFIG, PROFILE, INI, PREFS or CFG files to MNS, try AutoCAD or another comparable tool in the "Workspace Configuration Storage" category.
The MNS Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our MNS converter.
