About MNO files

.MNO files are primarily XML documents generated by Adobe Dreamweaver and legacy Macromedia Fireworks. They function as "Design Notes," storing essential metadata about your website workflow. This includes file-sharing statuses, template configurations, author annotations, and file checkout locks.

You can open these files directly in Adobe Dreamweaver or inspect their internal code using any standard text editor like Notepad or VS Code.

Website administrators often need to handle .MNO files when migrating legacy websites away from Dreamweaver. The main disadvantage of the .MNO format is its strict tie to Adobe's proprietary workflow engine. If you do not actively use Dreamweaver for team collaboration, these files represent useless clutter. Worse, uploading the hidden _notes folders containing .MNO files to a live web server can unnecessarily expose internal development notes to the public.

If you need to preserve the metadata outside of the Adobe ecosystem, converting .MNO to XML, JSON, or TXT is highly recommended. Because it is a highly specific file created by a proprietary tool, standard online converters often fail to process it.

Convert.Guru analyzes your MNO file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted DWT, STE, COMPRESSION and MN files.
