About MGOURMET files

A .mgourmet file is a recipe database or export file created by MacGourmet Deluxe, a specialized recipe management application designed for macOS and iOS. It stores complex structured data including ingredients, cooking instructions, nutritional information, user notes, and embedded images.

Because this is a closed, proprietary format, it comes with severe disadvantages. It requires a paid software license and is entirely restricted to the Apple ecosystem. Sharing a .mgourmet file with Windows or Android users is impossible natively, and you cannot open it in a standard web browser or text editor. Users typically need to convert .mgourmet files to PDF for cross-platform sharing, CSV for spreadsheet analysis, or TXT for basic plain text. Be aware that converting to plain text will strip out any embedded images and rich formatting.

This file format is difficult to open or convert because standard online converters lack the proprietary decoding logic required to parse Mariner Software's specific data structures. Often, only the original MacGourmet software can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format (such as an SQLite database or standard XML structures), viewing or partial data extraction may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your MGOURMET file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
