About MFX files

The .mfx extension creates significant confusion because it serves three distinct, incompatible purposes, often leaving users with a file they cannot open.

  1. Clickteam Fusion Extension (Most Common): These are compiled binary plugins (essentially renamed DLL files) used by Clickteam Fusion 2.5 to add specific functionality - like physics, networking, or joystick support - to games and applications.
  1. MediaFace eXchange Project: A legacy format from Neato for designing CD/DVD labels and inserts.
  1. MT Framework Shader: Used by games like Devil May Cry 4 or Resident Evil 5 (Capcom).

Convert.Guru analyzes your MFX file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted MXF, MP4, CCA, CC1 and RUN files.

The MFX Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our MFX converter.
