A .MEPS file is a proprietary video project created by Movavi Video Editor or Movavi Slideshow Maker. Unlike a standard video file (like MP4 or AVI), a .MEPS file does not contain actual video or audio data. Instead, it is a lightweight ZIP-based container that holds the instructions for your project: timeline cut points, effect settings, transitions, and - most importantly - file paths pointing to the raw video clips and images stored on your computer.
Because the file only stores references to media rather than the media itself, you cannot open a .MEPS file in standard players like VLC Media Player or upload it directly to YouTube. A common point of friction occurs when users move the original source files (videos/photos) to a new folder; this breaks the .MEPS project, resulting in "Media Offline" errors. To share your work, you must open the project in the original Movavi software and use the Export function to render it into a portable format like MP4, MOV, or WMV. For archiving, exporting to a high-bitrate MP4 is recommended, while GIF is useful for short loops.
