About MDM files

.MDM files suffer from extreme "extension clash," meaning the same file extension is used by entirely unrelated software. Most commonly, an .MDM file functions as either a proprietary Microsoft Jet Database Engine file, a custom chart for the rhythm game Muse Dash, or highly specialized measurement data exported by Keysight Technologies IC-CAP.

To open or convert these files, you must first identify their origin. Database files typically require Microsoft Access. Game mods are usually just renamed ZIP archives used by PeroPeroGames or Malody. Engineering data relies on enterprise tools like Keysight IC-CAP.

The primary disadvantage of the .MDM format is this crippling ambiguity. You cannot simply double-click an .MDM file and expect your operating system to know what to do. Proprietary database formats lock your data behind paid software licenses, while game mods require the exact base game to function. Furthermore, specialized engineering files are virtually unreadable outside of expensive enterprise software suites. Standard online converters fail entirely because they attempt to process the extension rather than inspecting the internal file signature.

For conversion targets, Jet Database and IC-CAP files should be exported to standard CSV or SQL formats to ensure long-term data accessibility. Muse Dash mods can often simply be renamed to ZIP to access the internal audio and JSON chart data.

This file format is exceptionally difficult to open or convert blindly. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the specific data structures. However, just drag and drop your file to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible on convert.guru. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format - such as a standard ZIP container or a recognized database structure - viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your MDM file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted MD, MDB, ZIP, SCORE, MMO and TRA files.

The MDM Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our MDM converter.
