About M_P files

The .m_p file is a CAD mass properties report. It stores physical data calculated from a 3D model, including volume, surface area, center of mass, and density. Mechanical engineers use this data for structural analysis and shipping estimates. Programs like PTC Creo and SOLIDWORKS generate these reports. They use standard UTF-8 text encoding to write the physical properties to the disk. Users need to convert this file because the native text layout is difficult to read for non-engineers. It is also completely disconnected from the 3D model. If you share a .m_p file, the recipient cannot see the geometry, only the raw text data. Furthermore, standard data tools cannot automatically graph or sum the values because the spacing and delimiters are proprietary to the CAD vendor.
