The .LYC file is a proprietary bestIMAGE Compressed Design File created by SPGPrints (formerly Stork Prints). It is used primarily in the textile and industrial graphic printing sectors to store complex, compressed design layouts. These files are managed exclusively using the specialized bestIMAGE software suite.
The .LYC format is heavily restricted and highly proprietary. It lacks support from standard image editors, web browsers, or general-purpose viewers. Users face significant disadvantages because opening the file requires an expensive, niche software license. Sharing proofs with clients or integrating these designs into modern workflows like Adobe Illustrator or Adobe Photoshop is impossible without direct conversion. If you have access to the original software, exporting the file to standard formats like TIFF, PDF, or PNG is recommended, though specific machine-level print metadata will be lost in the process.
This closed, proprietary format is notoriously difficult to open or convert. Standard online converters fail because they cannot decode the undocumented compression algorithm.
