About LXV files
An .LXV file is a proprietary encrypted container created by Lexar for their JumpDrive Secure II USB flash drives. These files function as secure "vaults," using military-grade 256-bit AES encryption to lock sensitive documents, images, and data behind a password. When the correct software is used, the .LXV file mounts as a virtual drive letter (e.g., Drive F:), allowing users to access the contents transparently.
A common frustration with .LXV files is their rigid dependency on the legacy JumpDriveSecureII.exe executable. Because this is a closed, proprietary "black box" format, you cannot simply upload an .LXV file to a web converter or open it with standard archivers like 7-Zip or WinRAR. If the original software is incompatible with modern operating systems like Windows 11, or if the password is lost, the data remains cryptographically locked and inaccessible. Users often face friction when the required executable is missing from the USB drive or when the file becomes corrupted due to improper ejection.
To "convert" this file, the only working workflow is to first decrypt and mount the vault using the original Lexar utility. For long-term preservation, we strongly recommend extracting all data and converting proprietary formats to open standards like PDF/A or TIFF.
Convert.Guru analyzes your LXV file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The LXV Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our LXV converter.
