The .lxe file format primarily functions as a proprietary encrypted secure data container created by Lexar JumpDrive Secure software. It relies on internal zlib compression to store and protect user files on USB flash drives. A secondary, unrelated use for the .lxe extension is as an Environment Preset File in Modo, a 3D modeling application developed by Foundry.
The Lexar .lxe format has severe disadvantages for modern users. It is a closed, proprietary vault that requires obsolete, specialized software to open.
