About LTB files

The .LTB file format is primarily used as a proprietary 3D game model and asset file for the LithTech Jupiter game engine, originally developed by Monolith Productions and Touchdown Entertainment. These files store compiled binary 3D mesh data, textures, and skeletal animations for PC games like CrossFire. Additionally, the .LTB extension is utilized for completely unrelated purposes: as a database backup archive for Lutron HomeWorks QS smart lighting systems, and as a UTF-16 encoded scientific experiment data file by Jeulin's Latis-Bio software.

Working with .LTB files is notoriously frustrating. The formats are entirely proprietary, closed-source, and highly specialized. LithTech game models are locked into aging engine ecosystems and cannot be natively imported into modern 3D software like Blender or Autodesk Maya. Lutron backup files are essentially useless outside of their specific hardware controller environment, requiring expensive enterprise software to deploy. Because these files lack universal standards, standard online converters fail to process them.

Users typically want to convert LithTech .LTB files to standard 3D formats like OBJ or FBX for game modding, rendering, or 3D printing. Latis-Bio users often need to extract their raw experiment data into CSV or XLSX for statistical analysis in Microsoft Excel. However, direct conversion usually requires legacy, community-built extraction tools or exporting directly from the original authoring software.

Because this file format is difficult to open and highly proprietary, third-party conversion is rarely straightforward. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying structure or standard text encoding, viewing or partial conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your LTB file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted DTX, TXX, EBO and CWD files.

The LTB Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our LTB converter.
