About LRD files
The .LRD extension is a classic example of a filename collision, where one extension serves multiple, unrelated proprietary ecosystems. The most frequent encounter (approx. 33%) is the 'Last Run Data' file generated by the discontinued Microsoft Money. Practical friction arises when users attempt to recover old financial data; they often discover this file and assume it contains their banking history. It does not. The Microsoft .LRD file is a lightweight configuration snippet (often under 1KB) that simply records the timestamp and state of the application when it was last closed. It contains no transaction ledgers, meaning converting it is generally futile for data recovery purposes - you need the actual MNY file instead.
However, in the accounting sector, an .LRD file functions as a legitimate journal ledger for Luca MMP software (associated with LucaNet). Unlike the Microsoft variant, this file contains critical financial data. The challenge here is proprietary lock-in; these files are not standard databases. To make this data usable for auditing or archiving, you typically cannot use a generic converter. You must use the original Luca software to export the ledger to XLSX (Excel) or CSV for import into modern ERP systems. A third variation exists for motorsports as data logger files for AiM Race Studio. For these, the best conversion target is a CSV export for telemetry analysis.
Convert.Guru analyzes your LRD file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The LRD Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our LRD converter.
