Convert LND to another file type
To convert LND Landscapes to another format, you need Landmark Editor or other 3D software.
Convert a file to LND
To convert other file formats to the "3D Coordinate & Terrain File" file type, you need software like Landmark Editor or a similar tool.
About LND files
The .LND file is a specialized data format serving two distinct, highly niche purposes. Primarily, it stores 3D anatomical landmark coordinates used in biological morphology and geometric morphometrics, managed by software like Landmark Editor or 3dMDvultus. Alternatively, it functions as a landscape detail file used to store terrain modifications in Farming Simulator by GIANTS Software.
Working with .LND files presents significant disadvantages. Both variations are highly proprietary binary formats. You cannot natively import an .LND file into mainstream 3D modeling programs like Blender or Autodesk Maya. The biological variations lock your spatial data inside legacy software, while the gaming variants require strict adherence to the proprietary game engine environment. Users frequently struggle with this format because it restricts data portability and requires either a specific, often outdated morphometric toolkit or the official game developer tools to access.
When dealing with anatomical data, the ideal conversion target is extracting the XYZ coordinates into standard CSV or plain text format for statistical analysis. For gaming terrain, modders typically need to manipulate the data within the game's broader I3D map structure rather than converting the .LND directly.
Because this file format is heavily restricted and difficult to open, standard online converters universally fail to process it. Usually, only the original software can correctly read the binary structure and export the data. However, convert.guru provides a pragmatic workaround. Drag and drop your file to see what it is and convert it if supported. Even if the proprietary wrapper prevents direct conversion, convert.guru can inspect the file, analyze the internal headers, and reveal raw text or underlying structures. If our tools detect extractable coordinate data or an embedded known format, viewing or data recovery may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your LND file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert LND file to OBJ, FBX, DAE, 3DS, MAX, BLEND, MA, MB, C4D, STL, PLY or WRL, you can use Landmark Editor or similar software from the "3D Landmark and Terrain Mapping" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DWG, DAE, X3D, IGES, WRL, JT, SKP, 3DS, 3DM, OBJ, STEP or FBX files to LND, try Landmark Editor or another comparable tool in the "3D Landmark and Terrain Mapping" category.
The LND Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our LND converter.
