About LND files
The .LND extension is primarily associated with 3D anatomical landmark data generated by software like Landmark Editor or 3dMDvultus. These files store coordinates ($x, y, z$) used in geometric morphometrics to analyze biological shapes. The major difficulty for researchers is that .LND is a specialized, often legacy format that modern statistical tools (like R or MorphoJ) cannot import directly. Furthermore, the original Landmark Editor software is no longer actively maintained, making it difficult to even view the data without conversion.
To make this data usable for analysis, users typically need to convert .LND files to universal formats like CSV (Comma Separated Values), TXT, or the TPS format used in biological statistics. For archiving, converting the raw coordinates into a structured XML file ensures long-term accessibility.
A secondary but common use of the .LND extension is in Farming Simulator by GIANTS Software. Here, the file (often named densityMap_fruits.lnd) contains binary data representing crop locations and terrain details. These are proprietary game files. While you cannot easily convert them to standard images for editing, they are managed within the GIANTS Editor. Users encountering these generally need to modify them within the game's ecosystem rather than convert them for external use.
Convert.Guru analyzes your LND file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted HRC, FINAL and CXL files.
The LND Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our LND converter.
