About LIBPKG files

The .libpkg file format is an Altium Designer Integrated Library Package. Electronic engineers use it in Altium Designer to organize and compile schematic symbols and PCB footprints. It acts as a project wrapper that points to source library files, such as .SchLib and .PcbLib.

Users face significant limitations with .libpkg files because they are highly proprietary. Opening them requires a costly, professional Altium Designer license. Standard web browsers, image viewers, and generic CAD software cannot read or display these files. Furthermore, because a .libpkg is essentially a manifest and not a standalone container of graphics, sharing it without the accompanying source libraries results in broken links and missing component data.

To share component data effectively, engineers usually compile the .libpkg into an .IntLib (Integrated Library) file. Users also frequently need to export the library data to generic spreadsheet formats like CSV for Bill of Materials (BOM) management, or migrate the libraries to competing EDA software like OrCAD or KiCad.

Converting a .libpkg file directly is difficult because it relies heavily on proprietary database structures and external file references. Standard online converters usually fail because they lack the proprietary rendering engines required to interpret Altium's specific EDA architecture. Only the original software can properly compile or export the underlying data. We will inspect the underlying text or XML structure and show readable content or embedded files whenever possible. If our analysis detects a supported embedded format, viewing or partial conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your LIBPKG file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

FAQ

If you want to convert LIBPKG file to DWG, DXF, DGN, RVT, RFA, SKP, 3DM, STEP, IGES, SAT, X_T or X_B, you can use Altium Designer or similar software from the "Library Package Compilation" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

To convert SLDASM, DGN, PRT, IAM, X_B, CATPRODUCT, SLDPRT, RVT, ASM, DWG, CATPART or DXF files to LIBPKG, try Altium Designer or another comparable tool in the "Library Package Compilation" category.

The LIBPKG Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our LIBPKG converter.
