About LDC files
The .LDC file extension is most frequently associated with LinMot Designer, a proprietary tool used to configure and simulate industrial linear motors. These files store Linear Drive Motion Curves, containing critical parameters like stroke, time, payload, and motor configuration profiles used to program automation hardware. Because .LDC files are strictly formatted for industrial hardware simulation, they are binary or XML-based project files that cannot be opened by standard office software like Microsoft Excel or Notepad. A secondary but significant use is within LiraLand LiraCAD (part of the LIRA-FEM suite), where the file stores stiffness data for structural analysis in civil engineering. In rarer cases, it may refer to Laser Design Cutting files used in manufacturing workflows. Users typically need to convert these files to PDF to share engineering reports with clients who lack the specific simulation software, or to CSV/XML (if supported by the host software) to analyze the raw data in spreadsheets.
