About LCO files

The .LCO file extension serves two distinct purposes: a Train Simulator Locomotive Object for Trainz Simulator and a Letter Class Option file for LaTeX typesetting, specifically within the KOMA-Script package. Train simulator .LCO files store proprietary 3D model configurations, physics, and attributes for virtual locomotives. These are highly closed, binary formats locked into the specific game engine. They are essentially useless outside the simulator and impossible to open with standard CAD or 3D software. Conversely, LaTeX .LCO files are plain text scripts that store variables like return addresses, letterheads, and folding marks. While easily readable, they require a heavy local LaTeX installation to compile into a readable PDF. For LaTeX files, the best conversion targets are TEX or TXT for editing, or compiling to PDF for sharing. For Trainz files, standard conversion is rarely possible. Standard online converters fail completely because they cannot parse proprietary game binaries or securely compile LaTeX scripts. Just drag and drop your file to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible using convert.guru. Our tool safely inspects the internal structure to pull out readable data even from closed game files or uncompiled text scripts.

Convert.Guru analyzes your LCO file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted GSE, III and DPT files.
