About KMC files
The .KMC file extension represents a Kinemac Animation File created by Kinemac, a 3D real-time animation and presentation application for macOS. These project files store 3D models, 2D images, text, textures, and timeline animation data used to build professional broadcast graphics or presentations. The primary disadvantage of the .KMC format is its proprietary nature. It is a closed project file rather than a standard media file, meaning it cannot be played in common media players like VLC or uploaded directly to the web. Furthermore, the software is exclusively available on macOS, locking Windows and Linux users out completely. Users typically need to convert these files into universal video formats like MP4 or MOV to share their animations. However, because .KMC is a closed, non-standard format that relies on specific macOS rendering engines, standard online video converters fail to process it. Only the original software can properly read or export the 3D data. If our analysis detects supported underlying or embedded assets, partial viewing or extraction may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your KMC file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert KMC file to OBJ, FBX, DAE, 3DS, MAX, BLEND, MA, MB, C4D, STL, PLY or WRL, you can use Kinemac or similar software from the "3D Animation Project Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

The KMC Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our KMC converter.
