Convert KBS to another file type
To convert KBS scripts to another format, you need KBasic or other Developer software.
Convert a file to KBS
To convert other file formats to the "Source Code File" file type, you need software like KBasic or a similar tool.
About KBS files
A .KBS file is a source code file written in the KBasic or KBS-BASIC programming language. KBasic is an object-oriented dialect of the BASIC programming language. These files contain human-readable text instructions designed to be compiled and executed by the KBasic development environment.
The primary disadvantage of the .KBS format is its reliance on a niche, proprietary integrated development environment (IDE). Sharing these files with non-developers or users without the KBasic software installed often results in system errors when they try to double-click the file. Furthermore, standard online converters often fail to process this format because they do not recognize the obscure extension or attempt to parse it as an unsupported binary.
To share the code universally, the best conversion targets are plain text formats like TXT, MD (Markdown), or PDF. Converting a .KBS file to these formats makes it universally readable on any device, though you will lose the ability to compile and execute the script directly.
Because this file format relies on specialized software to execute, it is difficult to convert into functioning executable code (.EXE) without the original compiler. However, convert.guru can still help. Just drag and drop your file to identify the format, view the raw source code text, and convert it to a universally readable format when possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your KBS file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert KBS file to MP3, WAV, AAC, FLAC, OGG, WMA, M4A, AIFF, OPUS, ALAC, APE or WV, you can use KBasic or similar software from the "BASIC Programming Source Code" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MIDI, AAC, TTA, AU, WV, DTS, MID, FLAC, RA, MP3, PCM or WAV files to KBS, try KBasic or another comparable tool in the "BASIC Programming Source Code" category.
The KBS Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our KBS converter.
