About JVS files
A .JVS file is a plain text network configuration script containing JavaScript code. Web browsers use these files to automatically determine whether a specific web request should go directly to the destination or be routed through a proxy server. Originally introduced by Netscape Communications alongside the nearly identical PAC format, these files contain a mandatory function called FindProxyForURL.
Today, .JVS files can be processed by almost all modern web browsers, including Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Microsoft Edge. However, managing these files can be frustrating. Because they operate at the system or network level, a single syntax error in the JavaScript can completely disable internet access for users. Furthermore, the .jvs extension is highly obscure compared to the industry-standard .pac extension, causing modern code editors and operating systems to fail at recognizing or syntax-highlighting the file.
To improve compatibility, we recommend converting or renaming .JVS files to standard PAC or JS files for network deployment, or to TXT for safe editing and documentation.
Standard online converters often fail to process plain text script files or corrupt the code structure.
Convert.Guru analyzes your JVS file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted JSX, MPB, IMGSAO and UNKNOWN-2 files.

The JVS Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our JVS converter.
