Convert JSL to another file type

To convert JSL scripts or libraries to another format, you need JMP or other Developer software.

Convert a file to JSL

To convert other file formats to the "JMP Scripting Language File" file type, you need software like JMP or a similar tool.

About JSL files

The .JSL file format serves two very distinct technical purposes: it is either a JMP Script created by JMP, a statistical analysis tool developed by the SAS Institute, or a Shape Library used by Corel PaintShop Pro. As a JMP Script, the file contains code written in the JMP Scripting Language (JSL). These scripts automate data manipulation, regenerate statistical plots, or build custom dashboards. The main disadvantage is that these scripts are highly specific to the JMP ecosystem. They require expensive, proprietary software to execute. You cannot run them natively in standard web browsers or other statistical tools like R or Python. Users often need to convert the scripts into readable text or rewrite them in R or PY formats to share logic with non-JMP users. As a Corel PaintShop Pro Shape Library, the .JSL file stores pre-defined vector shapes used for photo editing. This format is entirely closed and proprietary. Standard graphic editors like Adobe Illustrator or open-source tools like Inkscape cannot read these libraries natively. If you switch away from PaintShop Pro, these graphic assets become locked and useless unless individually exported as SVG or PNG files beforehand. Because both variations are proprietary to their respective platforms, direct file conversion is notoriously difficult. Usually, only the original authoring software can properly read, execute, or export the data. Standard online converters often fail entirely.

Convert.Guru analyzes your JSL file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted JXL, JSF, JMP, TUB, PCN, JBR and PYTHON files.

The JSL Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our JSL converter.
