About JSFL files
A .JSFL file is an automation script created for use within the Adobe Animate (formerly Flash Professional) authoring environment. These files utilize the Flash JavaScript API to perform repetitive tasks, manipulate the DOM, or customize tools within the software. While they are essentially plain text files formatted in UTF-8, the proprietary nature of the API calls (like fl.getDocumentDOM()) means they cannot be executed by standard web browsers or Node.js runtimes. Users commonly struggle with issues because double-clicking a .JSFL file attempts to launch the entire Adobe Animate suite - a heavy, subscription-based application - just to view a few lines of code. If you do not have the specific version of Animate installed, the file becomes effectively orphaned. For documentation or code reviews, converting to PDF preserves formatting and line structure. If you need to edit the logic in a standard IDE like VS Code, converting the extension to JS enables standard syntax highlighting, though the specific Animate commands will remain non-functional outside their native environment.
Convert.Guru analyzes your JSFL file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted JS, TXT, FLA, LMV, ACTIONSCRIPT and F4B files.
The JSFL Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our JSFL converter.
