About JQX files
A .JQX file is a "QuickLink" shortcut generated by GoToMyPC, a remote desktop software suite now part of GoTo. These files function similarly to internet shortcuts, containing the specific connection parameters, host status, and authentication tokens required to launch a remote session directly from a user's desktop without navigating the web interface.
A major limitation with .JQX files is their proprietary nature and dependency on the installed client. They are not static documents or images; they are executable triggers. Users often encounter these files and attempt to open them as standard text or logs, only to find they cannot be viewed without the GoToMyPC desktop app installed. Furthermore, the session tokens inside may expire, rendering the file useless for its original purpose. For troubleshooting or archiving connection details, the best approach is to "convert" the file to TXT format. This allows you to inspect the raw configuration data, server addresses, and error logs using a standard text editor, bypassing the need for the active software suite.
Convert.Guru analyzes your JQX file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert JQX file to CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF, DAT, DB or SQL, you can use GoToMyPC or similar software from the "Remote Connection Shortcut" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to JQX, try GoToMyPC or another comparable tool in the "Remote Connection Shortcut" category.
The JQX Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our JQX converter.
