Extract text from puzzle save files (JIGSAW)

The .jigsaw file is an XML-formatted save state used exclusively by Jigsaw Explorer, a popular browser-based puzzle platform created by Carolina Road Software. It allows players to save an in-progress jigsaw puzzle directly to their local desktop and resume the game later.
A common user frustration is expecting the .jigsaw file to contain the completed picture or a standalone playable game. In reality, it is strictly a text-based metadata document. It only stores the exact coordinates of the scattered puzzle pieces, the user's difficulty settings, and a web link referencing the original image. You cannot open it with standard image viewers, and because the format is locked into a proprietary ecosystem, it is entirely dependent on the Jigsaw Explorer web application to function.
Converting a .jigsaw file to standard image formats like JPG or PNG will not magically render a completed puzzle, as the file lacks embedded visual data. However, you can convert it to basic text formats like XML or TXT to expose the raw game data and extract the original image URL. Standard online converters usually fail to process these files entirely because they do not recognize the proprietary web-save structure.
