Convert JCF to another file type
To convert JCF data files to another format, you need Jaltest Diagnostics or other Data software.
Convert a file to JCF
To convert other file formats to the "Diagnostic Configuration Backup" file type, you need software like Jaltest Diagnostics or a similar tool.
About JCF files
The .JCF extension is a classic example of a "filename collision," where multiple industrial software suites use the same three letters for completely different purposes. Most commonly, you will encounter this as a diagnostic backup file generated by Cojali Jaltest software. These files contain critical vehicle configuration data, such as braking system parameters or ECU settings for Renault trucks and other heavy machinery. The main friction point here is proprietary lock-in; a .JCF file generally requires a licensed Jaltest interface and often a specific hardware dongle to open, making it nearly impossible to share diagnostic results with clients or mechanics who don't possess the exact same expensive setup.
Alternatively, your file might be a Cummins engine calibration file used by Calterm for adjusting engine control module (ECM) parameters, or a project file for JSOL JMAG, a software used for electromechanical simulation. The JMAG variant is interesting because it is internally a ZIP archive containing XML data and analysis results, yet it refuses to open in standard archivers without renaming. For most users, the goal is to extract the readable data trapped inside these binary blobs.
Conversion Advice:
For Documentation & Sharing: If you have a Jaltest diagnostic file, the best workflow is converting the data report to PDF. This ensures the recipient can view the vehicle health status without needing the diagnostic software.
For Data Analysis: If you are dealing with JMAG or Cummins files, the goal is often to parse the internal tables into CSV or XLSX format to analyze sensor data or simulation results in Microsoft Excel.
For Archiving: Keep the original .JCF alongside a PDF/A copy of the generated report to ensure long-term accessibility.
Convert.Guru analyzes your JCF file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert JCF file to CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF, DAT, DB or SQL, you can use Jaltest Diagnostics or similar software from the "Vehicle Diagnostic Data" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to JCF, try Jaltest Diagnostics or another comparable tool in the "Vehicle Diagnostic Data" category.
The JCF Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our JCF converter.
