In many cases, the file is essentially a standard ZIP container or a renamed copy of the proprietary FS (Flexi Sign) format, meaning the data is locked behind an obscure extension.
Legacy users may also encounter .JBK files associated with Juno, an early ISP and email client. These serve as proprietary backups for email folders and address books, often requiring obsolete software to access. A third, less common variant exists as a renamed JPG image created by specific Android backup utilities (like JuiceDefender) or older Canon camera software.
